Tennessee Disability Pathfinder
Tennessee Disability Pathfinder is a good place to start when seeking current information about community services around the state. It is a free, statewide, information and referral service for persons with disabilities, family members, and service providers. The scope of information includes all disabilities and individuals of all ages. Service is provided in English and Spanish.
This office maintains www.familypathfinder.org , an Internet source of disability information that includes national resources and materials concerning various topic areas. Pathfinder's website also ncludes a statewide database of disability services and support agencies in Tennessee . Agency information is organized by county (TN) and keyword service category. There are 50 service categories including: ADA Information and Assistance; Adaptive Driver Training; Adult Day Services; Advocacy Services; Animal Aides; Assistive Technology and Equipment (wheelchairs); Autism Resources; Automobile/Van Adaptations; Behavior Resources; Blind and Visual Loss Programs; Camps and/or Summer Programs; Child Care Programs; Community Fundraising Organizations; Deaf and Hard-of-Hearing Programs, Developmental and/or Psychological Assessment; Disability Parking Placard; Early Intervention Program for Young Children; Emergency Alert System, Emergency Shelter, Employment Related, Family Support Program* Provider, Financial Assistance, Health Care Services, Health Insurance Information, Hispanics/Latinos Information Resources, Home Rehabilitation/ Repair Services; Housing Information; IDEA Information and/or Training; Information and Referral Services (Programs whose primary purpose is to maintain information about services and resources available in a community) ; In-home Assistance; Learning Disability Resources, Legal Counseling, Mental Health Services, Newsletter Available, Outpatient Rehab Therapy (OT, PT, Sp T); Ramp Construction, Recreational Activities, Residential Services, Respite Care Services, Senior Citizen Services, Social Security Disability Program, Special Education Programs, Specific Disability Information (e.g., Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome etc); Support Groups; Therapeutic Horseback Riding; Transportation Services, and Traumatic Brain Injury.
Tennessee Disability Pathfinder publishes the Tennessee Disability Services & Supports Directory, a statewide directory in three regional volumes (East, Middle & West Tennessee). Pathfinder maintains the Pathfinder Disability Calendar, an Internet calendar of training and other disability-related events. Organizations post events to this calendar, the most comprehensive web listing of Tennessee disability events. Tennessee Disability Pathfinder is staffed by Director Carole Moore-Slater, MS, CIRS, who has more than three decades experience in disability services in Tennessee, and Claudia Avila-Lopez, Statewide Hispanic Program Coordinator. Melissa Fortson, CIRS-A, serves as Pathfinder's Information & Referral Specialist/Program Coordinator. Ashley Coulter, CIRS, serves as Pathfinder's Disability Resource Specialist and Carolina Meyerson is Pathfinder's Hispanic Outreach Specialist. Pathfinder is a project of the Tennessee Council on Developmental Disabilities and is jointly sponsored by Vanderbilt Kennedy Center for Research on Human Development.
