General Higher Education Information (Tennessee and National)

Community colleges, colleges, and universities welcome students with disabilities. Contact the institutions of higher education you are interested in attending. Ask them about campus accessibility, and services and supports for students with disabilities. College Internship Program
The College Internship Program at the Brevard Center in Melbourne, Florida provides individualized, post-secondary academic, internship and independent living experiences for young adults with Asperger's Syndrome and Nonverbal learning differences.

HEATH Resource Center
The national clearinghouse on postsecondary education for persons with disabilities. It is supported by the U.S. Department of Education. HEATH has information about educational support services, policies, procedures, adaptations, and opportunities at American campuses, vocational-technical schools, and other postsecondary training entities.

Youth with intellectual disabilities have not had many chances to go to college. This is changing as individuals across the county begin to create opportunities for these youth to reap the benefits of postsecondary education.
