Tennessee Health Care Information Resources

The Boling Center on Developmental Disabilities has a Reproductive Health Clinic that provides medical care to teens and adults with developmental disabilities. Health and Socialization Groups serve persons with mental retardation. Groups meet monthly. They discuss interpersonal relationships, sexually transmitted diseases, appropriate dating practices, birth control concerns, and domestic abuse.

Planned Parenthood of Middle and East Tennessee can train people to teach about sexuality to persons with developmental disabilities.

Children's Emergency Care Alliance provides collaboration and education to enhance the care given to sick and injured children. You can download an Emergency Information Form from this site.

Cumberland Pediatric Foundation promotes the health care of children of the Cumberland Region. Members work to improve the quality of care, to increase efficiency, and to lower the cost of delivering pediatric health care services. Their web site includes information for parents, children, and a library.

Junior League Family Resource Center at Vanderbilt Childern's Hospital provides information and resources for families and health care providers to help them understand medical conditions and how they affect children. The Center trains and assists families in using resources and supports family-to-family networks. The Center also offers a Health Library and Health Tips.

Family Voices of Tennessee is a Tennessee grassroots network of families and friends speaking on behalf of children with special health care needs.

Legal Aid Help Library includes legal education and self-help materials on getting health care and medicine, health insurance, nursing home problems, and more.

NAMI Tennessee is a grassroots non-profit, made up of families, consumers and professionals, dedicated to improving quality of life for people with mental illness and their families.

Preston Medical Library, University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, provides patient education and responds to consumer health inquiries.

Tennessee Health Care Campaign works to obtain affordable, accessible, and quality health care for all Tennesseans, including universal coverage of children, which includes information on TennCare for Children.
