2008 West Tennessee Summer Camps and Programs
There are many summer opportunities in communities across Tennessee for children with all abilities including Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, YMCA Summer Programs, Boys & Girls Club and church sponsored camps and programs. The following camp information is geared toward specialty or disability programs available. You may also wish to explore the Junior League Family Resource Center's online Camp Directory , which provides information on summer programs for children with chronic illnesses and disabilities. Many of the camps and programs listed are in the Middle Tennessee region. National camps serving children with chronic conditions are included for some specific conditions.
ADHD Therapeutic Camp

Services: The camp will promote opportunities for children develop good social skills. A professional team of social workers, educators, medical personnel and students will serve as group leaders or consultations.
Eligibility: Children between of the ages of 6-11 with ADHD.

ARC of the Mid-South Camp
Fee: $375 for members, $400 for non-members per camper per week
Where:
When: The Arc sponsors a one-week residential camp from July 7-11 (?), 2008 (Summer Camp I - Memphis Job Corps), and another one from July 30-August 3, 2008 (Summer Camp II - Pinecrest) for campers with developmental disabilities.
Services: Campers participate in a variety of recreational activities and see guest performances. In order to participate in the camp program, clients must have a developmental disability or delay. One-on-one clients are accepted and the minimum requirement is 6 years of age. Siblings are welcome to attend both the summer camps.
Eligibility: For campers with developmental disabilities ages 6 and up. One-on-one clients are accepted and the minimum requirement is 6 years of age.

Services:
Eligibility: 6 to 17 year olds with a variety of special needs including head injuries, learning disabilities, spina bifida, autism, cerebral palsy, Down syndrome, blindness, and deafness.

Girl Scouts Kamp Kiwani
Fee: 4 days - $160, 7 days - $280, 14 days - $560

Services: A residential camp program designed to help girls develop skills and make new friends.
Eligibility: Offered for girls entering the 2-12 grades who have physical or mental disabilities.

When: The month of July, 5 days a week from 8:30 am – 11 am
Services: Half-day summer program for students who are already enrolled in the school. This session is based around half-day school programs that allow the children to have fun and enjoy summer activities, while still being guided by their teachers and therapists to maintain and extend their speech, language, and listening skills.
Eligibility: Children between of the ages of 2 – 6.

Services: Comprehensive services are available including nursing, therapy, and specialized meals. These programs are intended to be a support for families and promote the parent having a successful work day with the peace of mind that their child is being well cared for.
Eligibility: Persons between the ages of 3 and 21 whose primary disability is a motor disability.
