Disability Employment Policy Tutorial and Quick Reference

Designed to help anyone who wants to understand disability employment policy, and is set up to encourage learning through tutorials and a quick reference guide.

DisAbility.gov - Employment

Provides advice for individuals with disabilities seeking work; help for employers looking for hard-working and dedicated employees; information on employment rights, laws and regulations; resources for employment programs and job accommodations for people with disabilities.

Employer Assistance Referral Network (EARN)

Provides resources and tools for job seekers with disabilities and employers.

Federal Employment of People with Disabilities

Provides information which includes Federal and state laws as well as other governmental and non-governmental sites to help users with or without disabilities, better understand how to hire and retain persons with disabilities.

HireDS

Promotes the inclusion of people with disabilities, empowers companies, and gives people with disabilities the opportunity to succeed.

Job Accommodation Network (JAN) - Office of Disability Employment Policy

A service provided by the U.S. Department of Labor's Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP). JAN's mission is to facilitate the employment and retention of workers with disabilities by providing employers, employment providers, and people with disabilities; as well as their family members and other interested parties with information on job accommodations, entrepreneurship, and related subjects.

National Business and Disability Council (NBDC)

NBDC is a resource for employers seeking to integrate people with disabilities into the workplace and companies seeking to reach them in the consumer marketplace.

Office of Disability Employment Policy (ODEP)

Provides national leadership on disability employment policy by developing and influencing the use of evidence-based disability employment policies and practices, building collaborative partnerships, and delivering authoritative and credible data on employment of people with disabilities.

Social Security Administration's Work Site

Provides information on SSDI/SSI benefits and Ticket to Work program.

Social Security Disability (SSI & SSDI)

Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) pays benefits to you and certain members of your family if you are "insured," meaning that you worked long enough and paid Social Security taxes. Supplemental Security Income (SSI) pays benefits based on financial need.

Training and Technical Assistance for Providers (T-TAP) Fact Sheet

T-TAP conducted a national survey of Community Rehabilitation Programs asking them their opinion regarding what factors maintain sub-minimum wage employment for individuals with disabilities. Specifically, respondents were asked their opinion on the following statement: "Fear of losing benefits such as SSI, SSDI, and/or other health care is one of the primary reasons individuals in our sub-minimum wage programs / 14 (c) programs do not want competitive jobs.

U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission

The U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) enforces federal laws which prohibit job discrimination based on disability, age, race, color, religion, sex or national origin. EEOC also provides oversight and coordination of all federal equal employment opportunity regulations, practices, and policies.
