There are many summer opportunities in communities across Tennessee for children with all abilities including Girl Scouts, Boy Scouts, YMCA Summer Programs, Boys & Girls Club and church sponsored camps and programs. The following camp information is geared toward specialty or disability programs available. You may also wish to explore the Junior League Family Resource Center's online Camp Directory , which provides information on summer programs for children with chronic illnesses and disabilities. Many of the camps and programs listed are in the Middle Tennessee region. National camps serving children with chronic conditions are included for some specific conditions.

Camp Description: 1 week residential summer camp for developmentally disabled children and adults. Campers must be at least 6 years of age, ambulatory, toilet trained, and able to complete basic self help skills with minimal assistance. Cabin assignments are based on sex and age and usually contain 4 – 6 campers with 2 – 3 counselors.

Camp Description: Choose from 1 of 2, 15-day camps. For ages 6 and older with a special need. Campers participate in a variety of activities, crafts, songs, story time, and games. In addition to the everyday camp activities, each session of camp features 23 field trips and/or special activity days. Some of the field trips are planned cooperatively with another Collierville Park’s Day Camp program to such locations as the Memphis Zoo, Malco Movie Theatre, Town Spray Park at WC Johnson, Ryan’s Hope Playground, Bowling and more!

Camp Description: June 8-12; For developmentally disabled children 12 and up. 4 nights and 5 days in an incredible atmosphere of Christian Love and Nurture with swimming, crafts and pontoon boat rides. Thursday night dance in crazy, zany costumes. Campers must: Be physically able to feed themselves and take care of hygiene and toileting needs. Have sleep habits which allow for many in one room to be able to rest.
