A mother of an adult son who has Down syndrome, Carol Greenwald has been involved in issues relating to people with disabilities since the time of her son's birth. She currently works for the STAR Center as a speech-language pathologist with a focus on augmentative communication. She completed her doctorate in special education and worked in higher education, most recently as the Interdisciplinary Training Director for the University of Tennessee Boling Center for Developmental Disabilities. Greenwald serves as a Board member for West Tennessee Family Solutions, stays actively involved with the Down Syndrome Association of Memphis, is the former President of The Arc of Tennessee, and serves on other state and local disability groups.
