Representative Sherry Jones has served District 59 of Davidson County in the Tennessee House of Representatives from the 99th through 106th General Assemblies. She serves as Chair of the House Domestic Relations Committee, and Chair of the Joint Select Committee on Children and Youth. She is a member of the House Children and Family Affairs Committee, the House Health and Human Resources Committee, the House Consumer and Employee Affairs Committee, the Public Health Committee, and the Professional Occupations Committee.
Jones is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) for Children volunteer, and she is involved with the Women’s Political Caucus. She is a Board Member for the Tennessee Coalition Against Domestic Violence, a member of the Tennessee Women’s Economic Council, an advisor to the Exchange Club Board, and a member of Davidson County Democratic Women. From 1987 to 1995, she was a member of the Metro Nashville Council for the 30th District and served for 3 years as a Metro Planning Commissioner.
Jones received a namesake leadership award from the Davidson County Council Against Domestic Violence, and she has received leadership awards from the Tennessee Coalition Against Domestic Violence, the Mid-Cumberland Council on Children and Youth, Vanderbilt Law School, E-Award, the Tennessee Economic Council on Women, the Tennessee Youth Advisory Council, the Tennessee March of Dimes, United Way, Family and Children’s Services, Kinship Champion-Kinship Families of Tennessee, Tennessee Trial Lawyers, Tennessee AFL-CIO, the Tennessee Association of Social Workers, Nashville and Tennessee Firefighters, Tennessee Citizen Action, and Senior Citizens. She has been an Athena Award Nominee, and she is the Vice Chair of the Tennessee Coalition Against Domestic Violence.
Jones has three children and three grandchildren.
