African American Alzheimer's Disease Study

    Looking for:

    • People with a diagnosis of Alzheimer’s who have more than minor memory problems
    • The spouse of an individual with Alzheimer's disease
    • Anyone over 60 without memory problems as part of the comparison group

    Compensation:

Brain Imaging Study of New Methods for Identifying Alzheimer Disease

    Looking for:

    Adults in 3 groups:

    • 50 years and older with memory problems or Mild Cognitive Impairment
    • 65 and older who have mild/early-stage Alzheimer Disease
    • 65 and older with NO memory problems or diagnosis of Alzheimer Disease

    Compensation:

    $20 per hour: The study will take approximately 9 hours total, which can be spaced out over 2, 3 or 4 days, at your convenience.

Child Emotion Survey

    Looking for:

    Typically developing children between 5 and 13

    with or without anxiety or depression

    with or without help from an adult

    Compensation:

    Kids who finish are entered for a $50 gift card drawing. There is also an opportunity for parents to complete an optional questionnaire for an additional entry in the drawing for the $50 gift card.

Depression and Parenting

    Looking for:

    Mothers who are either currently experiencing depression or have experienced depression in the past and who have at least one child between the ages of 9 and 15 who would be willing to participate in a study.

    Compensation:

    Families can collect up to $100.

Feeling Better Together: Healthy Kids, Healthy Families

    Looking for:

    Parents or primary caregivers of 5- 18 year olds who are in treatment for emotional or behavioral problems

    English is the parent/caregiver's primary language.

    Compensation:

    $25 for first interview visit, up to $145 for completing the whole study, $30 to $50 for child participants who complete the study

How hard can it be to listen?

    Looking for:

    6-to-12 year olds and their parents

    School age 6-12 year-olds in these 4 groups:

    • mild to moderate hearing loss (confirmed or suspected)
    • hearing loss in only one ear (confirmed or suspected)
    • language impairment (confirmed or suspected)
    • Typical language and hearing development

    Compensation:

    Up to $300 for completion and results of hearing, language and academic tests

    Looking for:

    Healthy children 8 to 10 years old, in one of two groups:

    1) Children who are very outgoing

    2) Children who are very shy

    Looking for:

    8 to 17 year old children and adolescents

    with reading disabilities

    with and without Neurofibromatosis Type 1

    Compensation:

    Free academic skills testing with summary, if first day of testing is completed. If qualified, 15 hours of tutoring. Check for $50 for each completed phase of the study.

    Looking for:

    We are looking for parent(s) and their 24 to 42-month-old children with:

    • Typical language and thinking skills
    • OR
    • Language delays and typical thinking skills

    Compensation:

Studies of Perception, Memory, and Creativity

    Looking for:

    Adults between the ages of 21 and 60 who can provide a confirmed diagnosis of schizophrenia, or schizoaffective disorder, or bipolar disorder

    The parent, sibling, or adult child(ren) of persons with schizophrenia or bipolar disorder whose affected family member will share documentation of their diagnosis.

    Compensation:

    $20 hour for time plus travel

    Looking for:

    Healthy Caucasian adults between 50 and 80 years old who do NOT currently have:

    • psychological disorder ( Bipolar disorder, schizophrenia);
    • Neurological disorder (Alzheimer's disease, other dementias, Parkinson's disease, essential tremor, epilepsy, dystonia)
    • History of brain surgery, head trauma, or stroke.

    Compensation:

    $20 hour for time plus travel

Treatment Study for Adolescents and Young Adults with Depression

    Looking for:

    Eligible volunteers must be between 12 and 21 years and meet the following criteria:

    • Interested in participating in a research study
    • Has lost interest in activities that he/she used to enjoy previously or
    • Has been sad, angry or irritable recently
    • Compensation:

      Compensation is provided for both travel and on-site evaluations and can range from between $25-$950 depending upon level of participation

    What do babies understand when you ask them “where”?

      Looking for:

      Typically developing infants between 11 months 20 days – 12 months 25 days old

      who were born within 3 weeks of their due date

      who have had less than 4 ear infections

      who hear English spoken at least 70% of the time
