Parenting Children and Adults with Developmental Disabilities

Description

This study aims to identify the concerns, strengths, health, and well-being of parents who are raising sons or daughters with different types of developmental disabilities.

We ask parents to take an hour to complete questionnaires that assess their coping styles, stresses, health, and mental health. We’d like to collect cortisol samples from parents’ saliva. Cortisol is a hormone associated with our responses to stress.

Participant Criteria

Parents of children 3 to 21 with:

  • Down syndrome
  • Williams syndrome
  • Prader-Willi syndrome
  • Autism Spectrum Disorder
  • Typical development

Compensation

$20 gift card for completion

Visit Requirements

By mail, or for local families, 1 visit to deliver cortisol samples
