Principal Investigator: Judy Garber, Ph.D.

Vanderbilt Research Study invites mothers and children ages 8, 9, or 10 to participate in a study about what makes children happy.

What is Involved?

  • Mothers will be interviewed by phone to determine eligibility.
  • All sessions are scheduled at a time convenient for you and your child. We are available mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends.
  • Mothers complete questions about their moods, parenting attitudes, behaviors, and their child’s temperament and behaviors.
  • Mothers and children have a free play time together for 10 minutes.
  • Children (a) answer questions about their feelings, their responses to different moods, what they do for fun, and their mom’s behaviors with them; (b) watch brief clips from children’s animated movies and rate their mood; and (c) play a computer game and earn quarters.
