Description

The purpose of this study is to understand the social and communication development of infants who have older siblings with autism. We hope to use this information to design methods of early intervention and prevention.

Eligible families will come to Vanderbilt for up to 7 visits. Children will receive assessments of their social and communication behavior at each visit, and will receive diagnostic evaluations at 24 months and 36 months of age.

Children who begin the assessments at 6 months old age will have a total of 7 visits.

Children who begin the assessments at 12 months of age will have a total of 5 visits.

The National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD) funds this study. It is also going on at the University of Miami.
