Description

We are looking at 2 ways of helping women have full term, healthier babies.

  1. the usual care that is given in the Vanderbilt OB clinics using your insurance, OR
  2. the usual clinic care using your insurance PLUS visits by a nurse practitioner or nurse midwife in a mom’s home. We will plan the visits to your house when they are easy for you. These women will not have to come to the clinic as often. Nurses for Newborns will visit at least 8 times after the baby is born.

All women will get the same amount of prenatal care.

During your pregnancy, we will ask you questions about your health, family, and home life. We will ask you questions around 5 times. These questions can be asked at your clinic visit or on the telephone.

We want to keep up with you until your baby is 18 months old. After your baby is born, we will ask about you and your baby around 8 times. These questions can be asked at your regular clinic visit or on the telephone.
