Dr. Urbano's primary research interest is developmental epidemiology. He assists Center investigators in accessing, linking, and using State of Tennessee health and demographic databases for research purposes. Previously at the University of Miami, he created comprehensive databases that ensured confidentiality and accuracy of over 50 million child health and education records. He served as Assistant Commissioner, Bureau of Health Informatics for the State of Tennessee where he created an award-winning program that electronically linked State demographic, health, and education records. As UCEDD Director of Evaluation, Dr. Urbano develops, organizes, and implements the UCEDD evaluation plan for all areas of emphasis and the four core functions.
