Claudia Avila-Lopez is responsible for working with Hispanic persons with disabilities, families, agencies, and organizations. She is responsible for translation and interpreting services as requested by the state DMRS, and she is a bilingual contact for Medicaid waiver applications. She serves as a liaison to family support programs statewide, provides community training to DMRS staff, identifies community services for the Tennessee Disability Pathfinder database, and works collaboratively with the Hispanic outreach team. She has a degree in social work, is fluent in Spanish, and is knowledeable of both the Hispanic community and of disabilities and the disability community.
