Caresa Young, Ph.D.

Overview

Caresa Young coordinates the Vanderbilt Kennedy Reading Clinic. She has a B.A.degree in psychology, an M.A. degree in school psychology, and a Ph.D. from Vanderbilt in special education. Before joining the Vanderbilt Kennedy Reading Clinic in 2003, she gained experience at the Tennessee Center for Dyslexia, Middle Tennessee State University, where she served as supervisor of clinical services and was an Assistant Professor of Dyslexic Studies in the Department of Special Education. She has co-authored several research publications with Dr. Doug Fuchs, Nicholas Hobbs Chair in Special Education and Human Development and Professor of Special Education. She also has presented lectures around the United States on the topics of dyslexia, development of reading and spelling, and practices in teaching reading. She is president of the Tennessee branch of the International Dyslexia Association. She is a member of the International Dyslexia Association, the National Association of School Psychologists, and the Tennessee Association of School Psychologists.
