Vanderbilt Kennedy Center Walking Team Raises $7,817.45 for Autism
On Saturday, September 13, 2008, over 2,000 Tennesseans came together at Nashville Superspeedway for Walk Now for Autism, Autism Speaks' signature fundraising and awareness event. The Vanderbilt Kennedy Center (VKC) team raised $7,817.45 in donations for autism research, family services, awareness, and advocacy, and contributed to a statewide fundraising total of over $200,000. The VKC team was ranked as the second highest in raising funds for the walk. VKC team member, Allison Nahmias, a research assistant for TRIAD, was the top walking fundraiser in Tennessee. She raised over $4,000 and received a plaque awarding her for her efforts.
