Did you know that Friday, Nov. 16, 2012, is National Information & Referral Day?
Information and referral (I&R) services are a vital part of giving assistance -- be it financial aid, employment opportunities, food and shelter, child care, or mental health support systems -- to individuals who need it, all quickly and free of charge.
There are some national I&R services, such as United Way and AIRS' 2-1-1 I&R Search Line, but the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center provides its own I&R services through Tennessee Disability Pathfinder. A product of the VKC and the Tennessee Council on Developmental Disabilities, Pathfinder offers assistance in finding disability services for Tennesseans, no matter their age, gender, or nationality, all over the state.
Tennessee Disability Pathfinder representatives may be contacted at (800) 640-4636, or (615) 322-8529. TTY users may dial 7-1-1 for free relay service. They may also be contacted by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org. To view the Tennessee Disability Pathfinder Web site, visit www.familypathfinder.org.
