On December 4, staff members from the Tennessee Disability Pathfinder Multicultural Program and the Parent Stress Intervention Project participated in the Healthy Habits for Life Expo, co-sponsored by Sesame Workshop and AmeriChoice at Nashville’s Municipal Auditorium. The Expo promoted a bilingual education outreach program aimed at helping low-income families make food choices that are affordable and nutritious.
On behalf of the VKC, Cecilia Melo-Romie, Statewide Spanish Outreach Coordinator, and Alexander Santana, Multicultural Program Coordinator, provided a table of resources and read books on disabilities to children in both English and Spanish. Also present to answer questions was Belinda Martinez, a research study interviewer for the VKC Parent Stress Intervention Project. A number of families from the Hispanic Outreach Parent Support Group were in attendance as well.
