Families with a member with Down syndrome often find it challenging to balance time and attention spent on the child with a disability with his or her siblings. New issues arise for siblings as a child with Down syndrome becomes an adult and siblings’ relationships and responsibilities change. Come learn about ways to find balance in your family and discuss the challenges and joys of having a sibling with Down syndrome.
Topics include common sibling issues and needs, giving individual attention, resources and groups available for support, caregiving and future planning, and more.
Childcare will be provided with advance registration by Sept. 20. Call (615) 386-9002 or email firstname.lastname@example.org to register or arrange for childcare.
This panel is a collaborative project of the Down Syndrome Association of Middle Tennessee, Vanderbilt Down Syndrome Clinic, and Monroe Carell Jr. Children’s Hospital at Vanderbilt.
