TRIAD Teacher Training: Elementary/Middle School
East Tennessee - Pct. 8-10

Vanderbilt’s Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD) will provide a hands-on teacher training to certified special education teachers and paraeducators who directly serve students with autism. This professional development opportunity is sponsored by the Tennessee Department of Education.

TTT is a unique 3-day workshop consisting of a combination of didactic instruction, video demonstration, live demonstration, application activities, and hands-on practice with students with ASD. Training topics include characteristics of autism and using evidence-based practices to address those characteristics and teach new behaviors, and academic skills.

Applicants are required to register as two-person teams consisting of a special education teacher and a ParaEducator involved in educating students with autism.

Participants will leave the workshop with a set of goals individualized to their education setting needs. These goals will be developed in collaboration with a TRIAD consultant, and each team will receive a follow-up site visit approximately 4-6 weeks after completion of the training.

Participants must attend all three days to be eligible for the site visit, and must participate in a site visit in order to receive a certificate of completion.

Deadline for registration is Oct. 22, two weeks prior to Day 1 of the workshop, or until full.
