Each year, the Nashville Mayor's Advisory Committee for People with Disabilities holds an annual Awards recognition ceremony in conjunction with the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center. For more than 25 years the Committee has been recognizing people for their contributions in the disability community.
Among this year's recipients are Jeanne Gavigan, a Next Steps at Vanderbilt graduate who has earned the Trey Pointer Young Citizen Award for her service with the Tennessee Performing Arts Center; the Susan Gray School, whose teachers and staff members have earned the Education Award; and country superstar Darius Rucker, whose selfless work with the inaugural Lifting Lives Music Camp led the Kennedy Center to nominate him for the Artist Award. Artists in the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center exhibit "Creative Expressions XVIII" will also be recognized.
The public is welcome to attend.
