TRIAD Early Childhood Training Workshop (Middle Tennessee)

Wednesday-Thursday, Sept. 26-27, 2012

The Tennessee Department of Education and Vanderbilt Kennedy Center - TRIAD (Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders) are pleased to announce a two-day workshop designed specifically for early childhood educators, including teachers and other professionals who are responsible for evaluating and developing goals and providing intervention services to children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) enrolled in state early childhood programs. This free workshop will combine lecture, small group discussion, video examples, and an opportunity for participants to develop materials for their classroom use. TRIAD staff will also model evidence-based intervention strategies with students from the early childhood classroom. Participants will accomplish the following outcomes:

  • Identify the core deficits observed in young children with ASD and how these deficits impact learning
  • Write measureable and observable goals that address the core deficits seen in young children with ASD
  • Use evidence based intervention strategies to address student’s individual goals

This two day training will take place at an early childhood program in each grand region of the state and will be open to forty (40) early childhood professionals in each location. Admission will be by application only.
