This basic level TRIAD Teacher Training for Elementary and Middle School personnel provides a unique opportunity for teacher and pareducators to jointly receive autism-specific training. Each team will consist of one teacher and one paraeducator that work directly with one another and share in common students with a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder. The scope of the workshop and subsequent site visit will not be student-specific. However, these teams will have time to work together in efforts to develop ideas and resources for the students with autism spectrum disorders they share in common.
The workshop will be conducted over three consecutive days and include lecture, video, demonstrations, activities, make it/take it, and hands-on application opportunities with students who have a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder. Topic areas covered will include characteristics of autism, structure, developing supports, communication, evidence-based interventions for increasing skills, and behavior. Each team will receive a follow-up visit at their school by a TRIAD educational consultant within two months of the workshop.
The location for this training will be sent to participants upon acceptance to the workshop.
