The Tennessee Department of Education and the Treatment and Research Institute for Autism Spectrum Disorders (TRIAD) of the Vanderbilt Kennedy Center are pleased to announce a half-day workshop designed specifically for parents and families of children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD). This free workshop will combine lectures, small group discussion, the participant creation of materials and will focus on the following:

• Identifying the characteristics of ASD and how they impact daily activities and interaction with others
• Becoming familiar with evidence-based intervention strategies to address the unique needs of children with ASD
• Developing a plan to integrate these strategies into daily routines to promote functional communication, social skills, play behaviors, and to decrease challenging behaviors

This workshop is open to family members only (maximum 2 from each family), and participants must be registered. Please go to The Tennessee Department of Education Training site to access the application form.

Deadline to apply is April 24. You will be sent the exact location of the workshop after April 24 if your registration application is accepted.
