In this session, we provide an approach to designing and implementing functional assessment-based interventions for use with individual students to address academic and behavior issues. Functional assessment-based interventions are designed to get to the root of these problematic issues, provide effective replacement behaviors, and subsequent contingent reinforcement for these students. We include an overview of functional assessment-based interventions, supporting research for their use, the efficacy of the strategy with different populations, and a detailed explanation of how to get started.
