Maximum enrollment: 50

Audience: Reading teachers, special educators, curriculum instruction specialists, school psychologists, teacher trainers, principals.

Description:

PALS Reading accommodates student diversity by "decentering" the teaching and learning process--reorganizing classrooms so that, for part of the day, students work with students and assume an active role in their own learning. In this workshop, participants will learn how to conduct peer-mediated reading instruction in grades 2-6 classrooms. They will learn how to pair students and prepare them to work together constructively on strategic reading tasks that accelerate reading performance.

Participants are asked to purchase a comprehensive manual that includes scripted lessons and materials needed to facilitate student training. Site will need to purchase these manuals separately. Please see "Ordering Materials" tab.

The comprehensive teacher manual will provide necessary materials that will enable them to confidently implement PALS in their own classrooms.
