Overview

Overall objective is to promote Center cohesiveness and to ensure interdisciplinary research communication among Vanderbilt Kennedy Center investigators, and between the Center and the external scientific community and the lay public.

Research Communication Services

Maintains national, state, local dissemination database; maintains Center website, manages electronic communication, including Centerwide "Monday Morning Message" and specialized distribution lists; develops and disseminates print materials describing Center and research projects; disseminates reprints; writes news releases and manages media releases. Research Lectures, Conferences, and Seminars

Plans, schedules, coordinates, and manages the Center's research events: Lectures on Human Development and Developmental Disabilities (researchers may contact us to schedule meetings with guest lecturers), Grand Rounds, Neuroscience Graduate Seminars, research conferences and meetings. Services: event planning; handling correspondence; arranging transportation, lodging, and meals; planning agenda and arranging meeting facilities; producing and disseminating preliminary and final conference programs; handling publicity; organizing registration; arranging audiovisual support; and processing reimbursement of lecturers or conference participants. Research Ethics Consultation and Education

Consultation during proposal writing, prior to investigators submitting research protocols to Vanderbilt's Institutional Review Board; case consultation regarding specific concerns that arise while research is in progress; and consultation on policy formation. Continuing education events, in collaboration with Genetics and Health Policy Center, Center for Clinical and Research Ethics, research training programs, and Institutional Review Board.

Governance

Visiting Scholars Program

Provides partial financial support and office space for visiting faculty scholars collaborating with Center investigators; for periods of 2 to 12 weeks; scholar required to present public lecture.

Graphic Services

Designs and produces illustrations, graphs, posters, newsletters, brochures, flyers; scanning and layout; color printing; logo and web design.

Video, Multimedia Services

Original photography, print or slide duplication; consultation, installation, training on photographic or video imaging equipment; videotape production; digital video (DV), S-VHS, and VHS editing; character generation; audio enhancement; video processing; S-HS and audiotape duplication; audiovisual support for research events. Fees for services: $50/hr for videoediting and production; you will be sent an invoice and will need to assign center and account numbers and return it.
Jobs can be left and picked up via Tony Maupin's in-box, 422 MRL; leave detailed instructions, including desired delivery date, investigator's name and contact name (if different), phone number.

We are committed to providing cost-effective and high-quality services to Center investigators. When you use a service, if you are satisfied with its quality, we hope you will let the staff member who provided the service know this.
