Welcome to the Child Language Intervention Program! We are very happy to be providing you with speech-language servicesthrough our grants from the National Institutes of Health and theScottish Rite Masons. The following information is intended toanswer questions which may arise during the course of yourparticipation.

This program is directed by Dr. Stephen Camarata, a child language specialist who is a member of the faculty of Vanderbilt University Medical School and is a Kennedy Center Investigator through Peabody College of Education. Clinical services are directed by Mary Camarata, M.S., CCC-SLP, and are provided by staff speech-language pathologists, all of whom are certified by the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and licensed by the State of Tennessee.

Location and Address
Our offices are located at the Kennedy Center on the Peabody Campus and the Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center at 1114 19th Ave. South. Although we are housed in the same building as their pediatric speech/language clinic, we are a separate entity. Your child's file will not be shared with any other clinic, including Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson's clinic, without your written consent. Our address is as follows:

Child Language Intervention Program
Vanderbilt Bill Wilkerson Center
1114 19th Ave South
Nashville, TN 37212-8700.
Our phone number is 936-5125. Our office hours are 8:30 to 5:00, Monday through Friday. In the event that no one is available to take your call, please leave a message on our voice mail system. It is checked regularly, and can be checked when we are away from the office. Our fax number is 936-5013. Please be sure to note on your fax cover sheet your clinician's name and "Child Language Intervention Program," because we share our fax machine with the rest of the building.

Attendance
Due to the fact that there are limited spaces available and that we have a waiting list of eligible participants, regular attendance is required. In the event that three or more sessions are missed, you will be released from our program at the clinician's discretion. We understand that families do take vacations, children are sometimes ill, and that it is occasionally necessary to reschedule appointments. However, such absences must be discussed with your clinician in advance so that other arrangements may be made.Because we see many children each day, we run on a tight schedule. In the event that you will be more than ten minutes late for your appointment, please call to reschedule. We will not be able to see children who arrive more than ten minutes late, as we will not have time to complete their session. All sessions run for 50 minutes unless you are informed otherwise.

A parent or other responsible adult must remain in the building for the entire session. You are encouraged to watch our treatment sessions or to wait in our reception area. Young children sometimes have difficulty being separated from their families for the duration of the sessions, and also require assistance with toileting which will not be provided by your clinician.

Sick Days
As mentioned above, we realize that all children are sometimes sick. There is no penalty for keeping your child at home if he or she is not feeling well, especially if a fever has been present within the 24 hours prior to your session. We do not want to "use up" a treatment session on a day when your child will not receive maximum benefit.

Signing In (For children seen at the Bill Wilkerson site):
Please sign in on the Child Language Intervention Program clipboard at the front desk every time you come in. You will see your appointment time and your child's initials, followed by a line for your initials or signature. Also, beside your child's name will be a room number. Please note the room number prior to every session. Room 147 is our usual room (downstairs), although it is sometimes necessary to see children in our upstairs therapy room on the third floor. In the event that we will be seeing you upstairs, please proceed to the third floor waiting room (across from the elevator and to your right) and your clinician will meet you there.

We are excited about working with you and your family. As always, if you have any questions or concerns do not hesitate to contact us at any time!
