Study Name: Neural, genetic & cognitive factors in reward function General Information Vanderbilt University researchers are recruiting healthy adults 18 to 35 years of age for participation in a research study of factors affecting the brain's reward system. The brain's reward system influences behaviors such as drug use and drug addiction, depression, overeating, and gambling. The purpose of this study is to learn more about the brain's reward system by studying its function through behavioral and mental traits and to begin to explore how brain function may be linked to genetic factors. Participants will provide a blood sample, answer medical and mental health questions, fill out questionnaires, and perform computerized tests. Time Requirements and Payment It is expected that this study will require up to 5 hours of your time on one day. You will be paid $50.00 for completing the requirements of the Study Day. If you do not complete the study tasks on one day, you may be invited back for additional study days to complete testing. Information and Participation Call Kim Morton, BSN, RN at 615-322-4187 Directions to the Psychiatric Neuroimaging Program Coming from the south: Take I-65 north Take Exit 81, Wedgewood Ave. Turn left off the Exit 81 ramp onto Wedgewood Go approximately 1.5 miles and turn right on 23rd Ave. South. There is not a stoplight at this intersection. Take an immediate left into the parking lot of the Vanderbilt Psychiatric Hospital. You may park in the parking lot for the building but make sure you acquire a parking permit from the receptionist on the 1st floor. Take the elevator tower (across from the lobby) to the third floor. Take a left out of the elevator and go down the hall for the entire length of the building. Here, you will reach a split in the hallway by a second set of elevators. Go left and enter through the door on the right marked "Psychiatric Neuroimagining Program" in Suite 3057. |
