Study Name:

Brain Research Study of Estrogen

(Biophysical basis of functional MRI study 4—estrogen effects)

General Information

Vanderbilt University Medical Center researchers are doing research to study estrogen’s effects on brain activation as measured by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI).  Estrogen levels vary over the course of the menstrual cycle.  The study measures estrogen levels and uses magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) to examine brain function.

This study does not involve radiation or treatment.  Subjects will be asked questions about their medical and psychiatric history and about their menstrual cycle patterns.  Subjects will be asked to provide a blood sample and undergo MRI studies.
