CUSTOMER SERVICE TRAINING
The Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau provides disability training and customer service information for businesses that is free to the public. In addition the Nashville Convention & Visitors Bureau is the website host for Access Nashville’s accessibility ratings for area restaurants. The NCVB partners with disability organizations to provide sensitivity and accessibility training to area taxicab drivers, police officers, employees at the International Nashville Airport and others to ensure that Nashville is a friendly place for all visitors to the city. The Center for Independent Living of Middle Tennessee offers a comprehensive one hour disability sensitivity and disability etiquette training to businesses at no cost. Included in the training are materials that describe appropriate levels of communication, people first language and simple do's and don'ts when working with consumers with disabilities. This information also covers accessibility requirements for public accommodations and technical assistance on ways to improve accessibility and who to contact when there are questions. This basic information is supported by the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990.
